A Quick Little Finish

I have a quick little finish to share with you today.

I finished up my little pink and gray baby quilt made from some leftover bits filling up my scrap bins.  It measures about 40" square.

I didn't have a lot of fabric so I had to cut sizes that gave me the best yield of the pieces I had.  The plaid is actually one of those digitally printed fabrics that came from a friend.  I am not a fan of the feel of these prints so I was happy to come up with a design that would use most of it up.

I not only used it as the center of my stars but I also cut some smaller squares to use as corner stones to spread the plaids out over the quilt top.  With the little bit of pink fabrics I had I made a skinny sashing.

The plaid definitely overpowers the soft pink and gray!

I put a soft pink on the backing and framed it up with a dark gray for the binding.

I quilted some squiggly lines in a grid pattern.  I thought
it worked well with the plaid fabric.

Here is a better photo of the quilt colors.  Lighting this time of year is challenging.  It has been dark and overcast outside and the lighting indoor is quite yellow.

It feels good to be working through some of these leftover bits as I wait patiently for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge to start up again in January.  I think I will try and find another handful of scraps to make another small quilt before the end of the year.  I always like to have some of these smaller quilts on hand to gift or donate throughout the year - they always find a good home!

Enjoy your weekend.  I have had contractors working around the outside of my house all week and I am looking forward to a few days of peace and quiet.  I am giving myself a new gazebo and front porch for Christmas....It is already looking quite wonderful!

Cynthia - this is so sweet - fantastic use of scraps!!
How exciting to be doing some upgrades to your yard. I love that sort of thing - well the end result really, not so much the mess it makes during the process!

I think the quilting compliments the plaid and quilt design really nicely. I hope you have a quiet, relaxing weekend. And Merry Christmas, the gift to yourself sounds lovely!

That's a fun design! I like the plaid paired with pink and gray - someone is going to get lots of comfort from this quilt. The new builds in your yard sound exciting! Hope you'll share photos when they're done.

I love "buffalo plaid" so this little quilt speaks to me. You have a great gift of using your bits and bobs to make wonderful quilts. I just put my scraps in bags and hope I use them someday! Happy Holidays!

What a lovely gift you are giving yourself, Cynthia! I often wish that our house had a nice front porch. Ours is small and barely big enough to open the door without knocking a guest down the front steps! Even so, I'm glad that there is a covered entry, as quite a few of our neighbors don't.
