The First Sunflower Finish

I am almost finished with all of the quilts I am working on for Kat over at Covered In Love.

The last blocks I tackled were the Sunflower blocks.  These were from the Nov/Dec block drive.  I think Kat sent me all of the blocks that were donated.  For this first quilt, I decided to piece them together so they form a bunch of sunflowers.

No borders - just 30 blocks sewn together to make a 60 x 72" quilt.

For the quilting, I decided to continue with the sunflower design and quilted chains of flowers at the block intersections.

They really show up a lot on the soft yellow backing.

Here is a full size photo.  It is hard to see the individual blocks but if you donated, I am sure you might be able to identify yours by the black and white prints.

I was able to make two more quilts from these blocks.  I hope to share the final two next Friday - that gives me a week to get the bindings sewn on!

Have a great weekend everyone!

What a great block! The secondary pattern it creates is terrific and the addition of yellow and sunflower quilting are the perfect accent to this quilt's story! Well done!!!

That turned out great! I knew those blocks would make a great design, but they sure were fiddly to make. It's no wonder some turned out to be different sizes. I don't think I'd have the patience to make enough for a whole quilt. Thanks for turning our blocks into a beautiful quilt, Cyndy!

I'm so happy to see this quilt! I didn't participate in the block drive for that one, but really wanted to see how the blocks played together. So fun!

This block gave me fits, so I wound up only sending one block. Your quilt looks great, but like, Diann, I'd never be able to do enough of these for a whole quilt.
