For the past decade or so, I have taken the last few weeks of each year to ready my business for the new year, clean/organize my house and give thought to what I really want to accomplish over the next 12 months. I also update all my work spreadsheets - including my list of all of my UFOs.
I ended up with 19 in case you were wondering!
A quilty friend and I always have a competition to see who ends the year with the least UFOs. We tied for the second year in a row. But what we both discovered is that we both do great at finishing the new starts but continue to carryover the older UFOs.
So we came up with a plan...
I am happy that the first UFO drawn looks like it will be something I can finish up. It will start the year off with a success. We shall see how long I can keep it up!

What a fun idea, Cynthia! Your own personal UFO Club and a friend to share it with. Happy finishing from The Joyful Quilter (at work. Again!)
I like that you take the time to get organized and make a plan. This sounds like a great plan and this first UFO project fabric bundle looks really promising!
It's a lovely set of fabrics. I'm sure you'll make something fabulous!
Great idea, I do something similar. Such pretty colours in this group.
That's a pretty pile of fabrics, and a great idea to work on a UFO for each month! I've been trying to work out a similar plan for myself. It's worth a try anyway!
I am happy to say I had more finishes than starts this year
Good luck with the UFOs. I started out 2021 with the plan not to have any UFOs...well 2021 had other plans. LOL
That's a fun idea. I know you work well with challenges so I'm sure you'll have a great year. Love the fabrics you have to work with. Can't wait to seeing what you'll do. Enjoy! ;^)
A splendid idea to reduce your projects, I shall be watching out for the results!
Sounds like a great plan and sharing it with a friend is bonus motivation! Looking forward to what you come up with for that stack of pretty fabrics!
I like it - and a *ruthless* (haha) friend to keep you on track!!!!
You can participate in the American Patchwork & Quilting UFO's Challenge on Facebook. There is a whole group and some make more than one list of 12! I have joined in your Quilting Orphan Adoption in the past by both giving and receiving. Here's to a hopeful New Year.
What fun fabrics! This is going to be a UFO year for me, too!
We're doing the number thing in my guild. Just the motivation I need! Good luck!
What a pretty collection of fabrics that you will be working on this month. Lovely colour palette. I think you will have fun turning these into a pretty quilt.
I love it when a plan comes together. We'll see if I can get some tops done this year! Hope you have success as well in your hopes!
