Oh Scrap! : The Color Green

The Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for May is green and I got a bit of a late start on pulling my scraps this month.  So I don't have a lot to share today.

I did sort and sew the center portions of all four of my Chaser blocks for the month.

And I did sort out all my green solid bits for my green letters this month.  I have even printed out my patterns.  But I still need to finish that pesky S in pink for April.  I hope to get all caught up this month!

I also sorted, paired and sewed together all the green triangles I could find in my scrap bin.  This is the first step I take in my placemat project.  I like to clean all these odd shaped scraps out of my bin.

Speaking of placemats, I have started on my first green one.  I know a few of you are making some placemats of your own.  I thought I would share one of the "tools" I am using.  I have this tray that is the exact size I want my placemats.  So all I need to do is sew together bits until they fill the bottom of the tray and I know they are large enough.  Before I used this, I was constantly measuring my piece to see if it was big enough.  This has definitely sped up the process.

So I guess I am poised to make some great progress this week!

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

That tray idea is great and save a lot of measurement. Great start with beautiful and happy green scraps.

You certainly have been very busy playing with the scraps of greens. So many gorgeous fabrics to work with too. Have a very lovely day and thank you for hosting the link party.

What a terrific mix of green fabrics! You will triumph over that "S"! I like your plan of stitching like sizes of triangles together.

Oh wow, what a perfect tool; I love that the tray is just the size of the placemat tops you need!

You have a fun assortment of green scraps! We are visiting the Boston and Cape Cod area this week with Mike's Navy group, so no sewing for me, but fun to get away for a bit. Have a great week!

What a great hint when sewing odds and ends together. It would work with any project where you make fabric. I think I'll outline the size I'm aiming for with blue tape on my cutting mat. That would be almost as fast!

I’m so late on the RSC that I don’t even have my pink blocks sewn yet.
