Oh Scrap! : Not My Scraps

Every once in a while, we get a stack of already cut squares in a package.  We do have a space to store these little jewels, but I am usually too inspired to play with bits that aren't my own.

In this case, these were flannel scraps that measured 6" square.  I grabbed all the ones that I thought could work together and started sewing.

In no time at all, I had a sweet little quilt top.  The red stands out a bit, but I think with the right backing and binding, we can make it work.  I will tuck this away now until later in the year.  This will be one of the quilts that go out in the big shipment of kid quilts at the end of the year.

Can you pass up a stack of squares?
I have proven over and over that I obviously can't!

I find it stimulating fun to figure out a design from others scrappy cuts.

You made good use of that pile of squares. You placed the red well, it helps keep the eye moving diagonally down the quilt. Very fun and cute.

I can NOT pass up a stack of squares, I can NOT pass up a gifted bag of scraps; I'm so doomed. My sewing room is suffering because of my addiction, lol. Pretty little baby quilt. Enjoy! ;^)

I can totally see why you had to play with those squares - they are so fun and appealing! I love the little animal prints, and the stripes, too. Someone is going to love that quilt! Have a relaxing Sunday, Cyndy!

I have passed on a stack of squares only to be sorry later. . . hindsight at its best! I like how your stack of squares stitched up and I like how the red stands out!

Cutting fabric is my least favorite step, so like you I wouldn't have been able to resist these coordinated squares!

I love it and just like you, I can't leave found fabric without getting my hands on it!! You're so smart to get some tops together for later in the year. I just made something that I think is coming your way. I need to be prepping for Passover seders but keep preferring to play with fabric! I may have a problem!!!

This little quilt makes me think of if life gives you lemons make lemonade. I guess it should be if life gives you squares make a baby quilt. I did something similar a month or two ago with some flannel. And, wasn't it great to get all the blocks sewn together rather than left to gather dust?
