Sometime probably in September, Many Hands and Many Hearts will host a sew day for local sewists to come and make some kid blocks for us. I am starting to cut the pieces for everyone.
Of course, it will be scrappy!
Right now I am cutting 4.5" squares. I have a plastic shoebox stuffed full so now I am working on filling another one. We are focusing on novelty fabrics and tone on tones in bright colors. Quite a few of these squares were already cut - thanks to a donor who sent a box full of them quite some time ago. Now I am trimming down some 5" squares we have in stock.
Soon, I will start to cut some 2.5" strips. We have lots of fabric scraps to use for those. As the event gets closer, I will post both on this blog and in the newsletter the blocks we will be making in case any of you want to make some blocks. (But I am not ready to receive them quite yet. Storage is becoming an issue - so I need to work through some other blocks first.)
Happy Scrappy Sunday!

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps. Here are the details for linking up:
- This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
- You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
- If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
- If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
- This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
- Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!
The next block drive has been announced. You can read more about it on this post.
I can't believe I am already receiving some finished blocks!

I love quilts made with squares and strips! Looking forward to seeing what you're doing with these. I can only imagine what you're doing for storage these days. Are you storing fabric in the refrigerator yet? 😜 Have a great Sunday, Cyndy!
I just love seeing a box full of quilt squares, ready to go! Good luck with the sewing day. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're making.
What a great way to get rid of some scraps and make some more quilts.
What a fun event that will be! What a lot of preparation it is already!!!!
Wow, that's a lot of beautifully cut squares, Cynthia! I'm stitching strings now and a bit disheartened that my scrappy piles are not going down, sigh.
An in person sewing event sounds like a lot of fun. Looks like you are making great headway on being prepped and ready!
Hi Cynthia, what a fun idea! Thanks for the party :-)
Looks like you're all ready to have some happy scrappy fun! Thank you.
I don't know why your post didn't show on my reading list yesterday. Weird!! I can relate about having a storage issue. I recruited some ladies. I'm kitting some baby quilts so they can take them home and sew them up. I'm cutting, cutting, and cutting too. Isn't it fun? Nope! ;^)
Cynthia those blocks like sew much fun. Hope you enjoy getting together with your friends. 😁 Carol @ Quilt Schmilt
