Oh Scrap! : This and That

I can't believe I went another week without sharing any finished quilts.  This was definitely a week of unplanned events interfering with my schedule.  I am hoping next week will be different!

I moved out of my sewing room and have been sewing on my dining room table for more than a year now.  In the last few months, it has become home to a large pile of scraps.  Many of them need to be cut into binding strips but there are some that inspire a quilt.

I had some leftover plaids from some napkins we made for our craft sale.  I decided to cut them into rectangles and make this little infant quilt.  It went together quickly and used up all the material.
I love when that happens!

I have also been playing with some of the strip blocks that Marci makes for us.  She sent us a bunch of 6.5" squares.  I have been sewing four of them into this scrappy block.  My plan is to sash them with the chocolate brown.  I have all the blocks completed - I just need to cut and sew on the brown strips.

One of the items that pulled me away from my planned schedule was we were able to finally purchase some heavy-duty storage racking.  I ended up putting it in my (old) sewing room and it didn't take long for us to fill it up.  I am feeling like I am slowly winning back large parts of my home.

Time for you to share what scrappy projects you have been working on!

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.

Both scrappy projects are looking good. So glad you've been able to figure out some of the storage issues. Happy stitching this week.

Good job using up all the scraps from one project on another one! I can never quite make that happen. Scraps really do try to take over ALL the space, don't they? I like your idea for the brown string quilt.

The plaid rectangles are fun, and I like the way you're putting those strings together, too! Glad you're getting some help with storage - we all struggle with that, even those of us who don't run a quilting nonprofit. And just because you need more, I sent you a package a few days ago! It's a 48 x 60 quilt top made of the color block stars and some of the current block drive blocks, too. Hope you can use these - and happy Sunday!

I love it when you are able to use ALL the material in a scrap quilt I call that a miracle! I thought that I did that once. . .then later came across another little bag of the same material. I like your plan with the string blocks.
