Right now, demand for Veteran quilts is only about three a month. That means we don't get into using blocks from our drives very much. The Veteran tops that get donated usually fulfill our needs.
This pretty string quilt top was sent in by Elana some time ago. We also regularly get 10.5" string blocks from donors, so we regularly sew up quilt tops from them.
I am in the works of sewing one up now.
I just love a bright, happy string quilt!
Karen had sent us a bunch of RWB pre-cuts. I sent a layercake to my friend Jeanne and she put together this top. I think the pattern was a Della Rose postcard pattern. Sharon supplied this wonderful flag backing. In fact, she drop shipped 5 bolts of patriotic fabric to us. (We are extremely thankful because we were struggling to come up with Veteran fabrics for backings.)
Here is one I put together. We received four flannel eagle panels from Kat. Initially I was stumped on how to use them. We do not have much RWB flannel. Then I had the idea to use two panels on one quilt. I had enough blue and deep red to complete two quilts (one is still in the works). Holly had sent us the star fabric which we were able to use a bit on the top and the binding. Funny story - while this quilt was in the works, I walked through my house in the dark to discover the star fabric glows in the dark. That was a bit of a surprise!
I think Kristin sent us the two flannel blues we used on the back.
And finally, Deb sent us this lovely RWB star quilt. It arrived all ready to donate - it just needed one of our labels! Thanks Deb!
I think we do have a couple more Veteran quilt tops we are working hard to finish up and then we will make a few quilts using blocks from our recent block drive. I still need to get those sorted by color by one of our volunteers to make them easier to use.
Hopefully I continue to find time to share more finishes,
