Oh Scrap! : Floral Scraps

It seems we are always finishing up quilt tops that were donated by others, but we do still work on other things.  Today I am sharing what we sewed on our last big sew day.  We cut up a number of our big floral scraps and added two 1.5" strips to the sides and made these simple quilts.

Once all the florals were cut into 6.5" x 8.5" triangles, we grouped them by color and then added in the solid strips for the volunteers to sew on.  I love how this luscious purple one turned out.  We used florals that all had black backgrounds.  On the back we used a stiped fabric Nann sent us.  It is actually a really dark navy but it looks great on this quilts.

This quilt designs will be one of our "regulars".  Any floral scraps that we come across that are large enough, we will be precutting to this 6.5" x 8.5" size.  So, you will probably see a number of quilts like this in future years.  We will make smaller sizes like this one and then a large lap for some of our recipients.

Sorry I have been missing so many Oh Scrap Sundays.  Life has decided to challenge me lately.  Not only did I catch a bad variant of covid that kept me down for weeks, but my adorable Arthur ended up in the ER with back disc issues.  It is called IVDD.  Luckily, it is just a bad flare-up, so he is supposed be in a crate 100% with no running, jumping or playing.  Yeah, it is not going very well.  He is a cheeky boy and is requiring a lot of attention and cuddles.  All we wants is to zoom around and for me to wrestle with him.  He did go back to the vet and has been signed off on a bit more activity.
Like many of us, he didn't like that he has to go on a diet so there is not so much weight on his short little legs and vertebrae.  He is a beefy bully breed!

Hopefully life quits getting in the way of my quilting soon!

The current block drive will be coming to an end soon.  I have decided to call these Friendship Bracelet blocks.  Thanks, Deanna, for suggesting the name. This drive runs until the end of November so there is lots of time to join in.  You can read more about it in this post.
