I finally found some free time to spend in my sewing room this week.
It was just the therapy I needed!
I turned these old leftovers into blocks. There were some homespuns, brushed cottons and cut apart old shirts.
The blocks were simple enough to make. Just start with a square and insert some strips. Then it is just a matter of trimming the block to size. Mine measured 8".
Once I finished all the blocks. I sewed in more sashing and cornerstones. I didn't have any large cuts of plaid, so I left it without a border. I just added a wider strip of the rust fabric.
You can see it more in this photo. I also wanted to add a bit more length so I made the top and bottom strip just a bit bigger.
As you can see, I used a bit of everything in this quilt.
On the back, I used one of the backing fabric I picked up on my last purchase through Connecting Threads.
In fact, here is a pic of the fabrics I bought - two of them went into this quilt and the striped one was used on my Dog quilt. I need to place another big order with them soon....I am using up a lot of my backing stash!
Here is the whole quilt. I am donating it for the Hands2Help Challenge hosted by Sarah. This one will go to Emily for a Quilty Hug. I have been sending her quilts for this event for years.
If you want to read more about the Hands2Help event, you can do so here. And Emily has written about Quilty Hugs on her blog here.
Stay well Everyone!
