Oh Scrap! : RSC Flimsies

Last Sunday, I made the decision to start finishing up my RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) quilt tops for 2016.  And now this Sunday, I am ready to share the completed quilt tops!

Here is the first one.  Each block measures 14" so the quilt finishes at 42 x 56".  I was not real happy with the blocks I chose for the year.  My desire was to come up with a block that used up the many 2.5" squares I always have cut.   I have since seen so many better designs...but I still stuck with them!

Here is quilt top #2.  I like to donate my RSC quilts each year to a local kid's organization.  The timing is usually perfect for the 100 Quilts for Kid's drive that happens each fall.  This year will be no exception.  I have already pulled backings from my stash and hope to get these quilted up soon!

 Here they are together.  Now I can start thinking about what next year's block will look like!

Please Adopt Me!

 After many years of feeling like I had to finish every project I started, I now give myself permission to pass on those that I just don't want to finish.  The Quilty Adoption Event I host is the perfect time to find them a good home.

 This fall, I am putting up for adoption all of these pre-cut diamonds.  Each diamond measures about 9" tip to tip and they are about 5" wide.  I will also include a few strips that are already assembled.  They can be used as is or deconstructed - however you would like to make use of them.  There are hundreds of these pieces cut (sorry, I am not going to count them) and they should make a nice size lap quilt.

It is all quilt store quality fabric and precisely cut.  I was always going to finish it just to try and sell it.  But because I would have to invest time and a backing fabric, it is just something I no longer want to do. So I am looking for an angel to finish it.

I will ship this anywhere in the US for free!

***Note:   I would really like this to be made into a quilt for a charity (of your choice).***

Fall 2016 Quilty Orphan Adoption Event

 

Can you imagine how many projects are tucked away in cupboards just waiting to be finished?!  I know there are quite a few in just my sewing room alone.  Many of these projects are no longer loved and the initial enthusiasm to finish them is long gone.  We all tell ourselves we will get to it "Someday", but if we are honest with ourselves, we know there are just too many other projects we want to work on.

Well my friends, it is time to get those projects out of our sewing rooms and into the hands of someone that will finish them! 

This Quilty Orphan Adoption event helps in getting those projects to quilters that will finish them and give them some much deserved attention.  And I can say from experience, it feels great to release the burden and move onto something you really want to work on!

Last spring, Libby at Life on the Hill adopted out a couple of cat panels she no longer wanted and was quickly rewarded with seeing them sewn up into finished quilts that were donated to a kid's charity.  You can read more about it here.

Orphan Adoption Event

September 16th, 2016 through September 18th, 2016

Here are some more details:

1.  I am going to ask that any "orphan" linked up must be given away for free.  (If you are wanting to destash for money, there are other venues to do that on.)  I think it is fair that if you need to, you can ask that shipping costs be paid.  Just be sure and put that information clearly in your post.  And know that both parties enter into the deal at their own risk.  I hold no responsibility.

2. Have clear pictures and descriptions on what you are putting up for adoption.

3. Define the criteria for how you will decide who will adopt the item.  Is it a random number giveaway, do you only want it to go to charity, or is there some other criteria that needs to be met?

4.  Be sure and identify where you are located and where you are willing to ship to.

5. Define how long you are keeping the adoption open and when you expect to award the adoption.

6. Remember to link back to my blog so your readers can see what else is being offered.  And feel free to grab a button!

The ability to link up your blog, Instagram, Flickr, or Facebook post will be open through Sunday September 18th.  You can award your adoption on any date you choose after the 18th.  Feel free to offer as little or as much as you want.  It can be blocks, books/patterns, kits, printed panels, fabric, quilt tops...anything that you hope someone else will use and you wish to get rid of the burden.
