A Little Disappointed - FAL

The crazy fish quilt is done!  Mark another finish off my 3rd quarter goals.

I should be a little happier that I was able to get another quilt on my Finish -A Long list quilted and bound but I found myself feeling a little lackluster over the finish. Stepping back from the quilt and viewing it in its entirety, it is a whole lot of blue and very busy.

However, I really do love all the prints I used in this project.  Some of my very favorite Brandon Mably prints are in here.  So I think when I get it out this winter on movie night and snuggle close, their whimsey will make me smile and I will appreciate it a little bit more.

If you haven't had a chance yet to enter my giveaway, there still might be time.  It closes Thursday the 22nd.  You can find out more about it here.

Disappointed? I looove it! Maybe because the main colors are my favorites. I don't think it has too much blue or is too busy either. Maybe you've just seen too much of it lately. Put it away for a few weeks, pull it out and THEN you'll love it :)

Seems like there is a lot of quilt disappointment to go around this week! Next week will be better.

I totally concur with Julie on this one! I love blue! When the winter blahs set in - those happy fish will have you smiling too!

Might just need a little time away from it! I get so tired of looking at mine that I forget why I loved them in the beginning...

I think it is gorgeous (but blue is my favourite colour anyway). I agree with Julie, perhaps you need to put it out of sight for a bit and then bring it back out.

I have three things to say here...

1. I really like it! I do see what you're saying and a few neutrals may have really changed this quilt. The down side, a few neutrals would likely have really change this quilt!

2. The others are probably right. It's amazing how much more I like something I thought I hated when I don't look at for a month or more. Something about getting a break from it gives me a chance to love it again.

3. You may never love it. I think that is not only totally OK - but necessary for artists to go through. If this turns out to be a style you don't like, you've just taken a fork on your artist path and defined your voice a little further. When you look at it that way, even if you don't like it, you will see the experience and knowledge gained from it creating a positive emotional connection to it. (well, at least I do with mine!)

Is this blue quilt got you blue too, because it is making me smile! I love the colors and prints. They almost have an iridescent effect. Great job, don't be too hard on yourself.

I really like this one Cynthia! I think all of the blue really gives it a great under water feel. I bet you'll like it once you take a little break from it.

I'm so glad you shared this at Needle and Thread Thursday!

It is a beautiful quilt, Cynthia - blue is a very calming color, so drag it out on a day when you're feeling stressed out - I bet it will change your mood! Whoop whoop for a fabulous finish!!
