Amanda Jean over at crazy mom quilts has been hosting an informal QAL for her scrap vortex quilt. I decided to join in and I have been having a ball sewing up my tiny scraps into larger and larger irregular shaped blocks.
It was time to put them up on my design wall so I could see how it looked. I was planning on sewing up a kid-sized quilt but as you can see I got a bit out of control with my sewing. Even after filling the wall space, I still have a large stack of blocks.
I thought this quilt would be a great opportunity to get rid of my black and multi-colors scraps. My initial thought was to use all sorts of colors but settled on keeping in the hot colors - red, pink, orange and yellow. As you can see, I also included a bit if turquoise and lime bits just for fun.
This quilt has been a great leaders/enders project so it has come together really quickly. I look forward to reading the next steps which should come out this week. If you are participating in the Scrap Vortex QAL, I would love for you to link up pictures this Sunday on Oh Scrap!
Amazingly, I STILL have a lot of scraps left!

That's really a great scrap project and it is looking wonderful. I love your addition of occasional turquoise scraps. I have need to decide on another leader/ender project since I finished up my last one some time ago, and this gives me lots of ideas. Thanks for sharing!

Stunning palatte! Was it difficult to get the pieced blocks arranged on your design wall? The shapes and sizes vary so much, that looks like an almost impossible task.

Narrowing the color range was a great choice, makes it look cohesive and less scrappy. The little bits of turquoise do add a sparkle. Whatever size or sizes it turns out to be, it will be special.
I've been working on it as well! Trying to stay with bright as I, too, want to make a kid quilt for donation. Yours looks more color-coordinated than mine. I'm thinking that if I could get them up to about 20" after trimming, a 3X4 would be a good size!! We'll see how that works.

Ah brilliant another scrap idea! I've been sewing scrappy log cabins in an attempt to deplete my scrap boxes, it is slowly working!
That is just beautiful! I am making progress one mine, too, although not quite as much. Got distracted with a pouch! I sure wish I had a design wall to lay all the blocks out on. That is something I need to work on for my sewing room.
Your quilt looks like so much fun. Wish I had the time (and scrap collection) to make one.
