Right after I received my AccuQuilt Studio Cutter, I decided it was time to clean out a few of my scrap bins. I was finding I was getting really tired of looking at some of these fabrics having used them in so many quilts over the years.
I loved how quickly and accurately I was able to cut my scraps up into squares - something I was spending a lot of hours doing in the past.
I decided to play with hot and cold colors. I cut my blues into 2.5" squares and my hot colors into 4.5" squares. The block was a simple one and could be sewn up as a leader/ender project.
Somewhere along the way, I really fell out of love with this quilt. But once I got to quilting it, it started coming together for me.
I decided to crosshatch quilt in the blue and create some squared spirals in the bigger squares.
And I love the red backing piece I was able to find in my stash.
Not a bad quilt from a bunch of tired old scraps!

I love my accuquilt for this very reason -- your quilt is awesome and it's new love for fabric that could have been easily overlooked. I've got a bin of 5 inch charms and love gifting them to people as part of bee swaps if i know they are working on projects needing certain colors or my hexi loving friends.

Great finish! I especially like the squared spirals (enough that I'm going to have to try that motif). You had a smart idea of cutting the hots and cools into different sizes...much easier to spread them across the quilt, I'm sure.

I got a Go cutter for Xmas and like you I am cutting scraps - a lot of work left to do but I plan on trying to cut a couple days a week.
