Oh Scrap! : Column Along Blocks and Destash

The weather here has been beautiful so now I am often torn between time in my sewing room and time outdoors.  This week, rather than pull weeds, I decided to finish up this month's blocks for my Rainbow Sampler quilt with So Scrappy.

Angela refers to these as Wacky Pinwheels.  Once again, I decided to fade my blocks from light to dark and use Kona Snow for all the background.

Here are all my blocks to date.  I think this quilt is going to be so pretty when it gets put together.

Another project I worked on this week was putting together some destash bags of fabric to sell in my Etsy shop.  I have over grown my fabric storage area and even though these are all fabrics I use, I am finding it is necessary to destash a bit.  The lots are all by color or theme and weigh anywhere from 1 lb to 1.5 lbs.  That is over 3 yards to a package.  If you are looking to round out your scrap stash, it is a great deal.

And if you make a purchase and can use some smaller scraps, just leave me a comment on the order and the color(s) you want and I will gladly top off the envelope!  (I hope to be adding more bags soon so be sure and check back.)

I love your 'faded' color scheme. What a clever idea. I have my pieces cut out and need to see them together. But have the same issue, when the weather is nice I want to soak in the sun and work in the garden.

The wacky pinwheels in orange are gorgeous! I thnk the layout from light to dark looks great, too. That's always a favorite of mine!

Perfect fading of the wacky pinwheels! I wish I had gone quilting this weekend instead of gone weeding! Warm weather has a way of luring me out!

your column-along blocks are great! I'm not sure how I missed your quilt before (if you've posted about it) but I love how you've faded it from light to dark- and I nknow that took lots of work and pre-planning. congrats!

I love your wacky pinwheels. What pattern did you use for them? I need to use some scraps and I think that pattern would "fit the bill".

Sorry, I didn't give you an email address to answer me. Can you give me the pattern source for wacky pinwheels? connie(dot)siefken(at) bnotredame (dot) org

The block gradations are looking so nice on the wall. The oranges turned out very well. Enjoy your garden this week.

Your Wacky Pinwheel blocks turned out beautifully. The fade from light to dark works really well.

Your orange pinwheels looks great! Lots of great links to explore this week...I know what ya mean about being torn between going outside and sewing...get in a little of both is my vote. Sewing in the morning and lunch on the patio with a few early afternoon hours of sun in the yeard??. :)

That does look interesting, shading from light to dark adds another dimension to your design.

I agree your rainbow quilt is going to be stunning.

I agree - the color gradation in that quilt will be very pretty when you finish it. It is really nice that there are different blocks, but the same 'light to dark' theme. Scrap bag destash, I never thought of that but it's a good idea. Sometimes, we've just got to make room! :)

I love your orange blocks and the subtle range of colors. I can imagine a whole quilt of these blocks in only shades and tints of orange.
