Oh Scrap! : Blue

Yay!  I was hoping that Angela over at SoScrappy would announce that blue was the color for July.

It could just be the time of year, but I have been thinking about making a red, white and blue quilt.

Remember these red 6" string blocks I made back in March?  Once I saw the color announcement for July, I dug out them out and thought I would see what I could make by adding some blue blocks into the mix.

I started out making a few 12' blocks.  Once I started playing with layouts on my design wall, I felt I needed a few 6" blue blocks.  Then things really got crazy and I made some 6 x 12" rectangles.

My next steps will be to incorporate some of these leftover patriotic fabrics into the project.

I will share more once I get the rest of the blocks completed.  Right now I have a few layout options  in my mind and I might need your help choosing the final design.

Happy Scrap Quilting!

Those look like they will turn into something fun! I'm looking forward to seeing how you put the different size blocks together. I also love how you can pull all that pretty red, white, and blue fabric out of your stash! :). Have fun!

You have a lot of great fabrics and a good start. Are you making those blocks a finished 6 and 12" or are you adding a half inch for seams?

I'm intrigued to see the layout options with the block sizes you have.

I agree! It seems July is the month when I'm more drawn to red, white & blue! Even though we are always American...I think it just has to do with having many parades and picnics decorated with red, white & blue (during July) that just brings back the memories of a happy and full Summer! :-) Enjoy!
