Finally Something to Show

Hurray!  I found some time to sew!

I was able to finally finish up a quilt top.

My scrap bins were still filled with a bunch of bright strings containing black.  I wanted to put together a quilt top that would hopefully use up a lot of them.

I paired them with a dark gray/black Essex yarn dyed linen.

I think it measures about 70" square.
My next goal is to find some time to quilt it!

Last fall, I made a similar quilt except I used solids in the cornerstones and set the blocks on point.
It is hard to pick a favorite!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Sewing up a storm, you are. I keep waiting for your Scrap Baskets to become empty, but it never seems to happen, lol. Lovely composition on this quilt!

These are both inspiring, and a fabulous way to use a bunch of scraps! I think our quilt ministry group will want to try this design for some of our donation quilts.

Both are awesome, but I love on point settings, so the first is still my fav.

Both quilts look great. i love the pieced lashings.
I think of my scrap box as a magicians box. You pull one piece out an the rest keep coming.

Such a great quilt! It's an excellent way to use up those darker scraps.

Such a fun use of your darks + brights scraps! Isn't it funny how we get focused on using up all of a particular type of scrap? That bin should be getting empty, right?

Great quilt top. It was a good use of those dark mixed colour scraps.

I like the one on point too, but this 2nd one is very masculine looking. It will be a great picnic/camping quilt.

I love this new quilt, the pattern certainly lends itself to different interpretation, must do one!!

I love both quilts! The colors of the first quilt are dramatic. You've inspired us to dig through and use our scraps.

Is this pattern from Amanda Jean's book? Very clever!

That turned out beautifully! I like the gray background fabric and the dotty cornerstones with your black and bright prints. You have such a great way of putting color together that always works!

oh you are right..they both look great and it would be hard to pick. Great way to use up scraps.

That first quilt you made is exactly the reason that made me want to buy Amanda Jean's book. I have been wondering how in the world I was going to use up all my scraps with black in them. This is so perfect. However, it's going to have to be a side project that I can only work on every now and then. How fun to see yet another version of this fun pattern!
