A Little Stash Finish

Every once in a while, I come across some fabric in my stash that I decide just needs to go.

I recently came across a half yard of some numbers fabric.  To complement it, I added in a bunch of stray solids that had all been used in previous projects.

That is all I needed to get some blocks started!

The blocks consisted of a simple 9 patch made from 2.5" squares.
I then framed those with some 2" strips.

I now have a colorful 39 x 49" quilt.

I decided to sash the blocks with some black and white text fabric just to make it a bit larger.
I cut the sashing at 1.5" wide.

You can also see the quilting in this photo.  I used a variegated thread and quilted it vertically with some doubled up serpentine lines.

Easy Peasy!

I did struggle a bit to find a backing for this one.  All of my yard cuts were too small and my large cuts just seemed a waste to use.  I did end up using a piece of a wide backing I bought from Connecting Threads.  The colors were just too perfect!

This little quilt was certainly a fast finish.  It cleaned up a lot of odd fabrics hanging out in my stash.
So far it has no home - I am guessing it will eventually get donated.

Now it is time to see what else I can purge from my stash!

What a fun and fast little quilt! I don't know how many times a yard cut of fabric has been just a tiny bit too short!
