Oh Scrap! : A New Color

I was so hoping that the new RSC color for August was going to be purple.  But the color for this month is another shade of blue.  Many of my projects have more than enough blue blocks but thankfully I recently started some new RSC quilts so I do have a few blocks to make this month.

I made ten of my Bright Hopes blocks.  These are very quick to make because they are made with 2.5" strips - which I usually have in my scrap bins so all I need to do is cut the pieces to length.

I added them to the ten pink blocks I finished last month.

This quilt is going to be a lot more chaotic than my usual scrap quilt.  I haven't decided on a layout yet but I am hoping once I have all 80 blocks completed, I will find a way to tame it down a bit.

...or it may just stay a ton of scrappy goodness!

I like the way you're sewing those blocks with the opposite sides matching and the lights and darks, too. That should give you some interesting patterns to play with! Enjoy your Sunday, Cyndy!

It'll come together in the end...I am confident of that! Maybe, just maybe next month will be purple!

I always approach scraps with fear and trembling, and then I am amazed that it does work. I guess when you think about it, nature is just an array of colors and textures and we don't find it clashes.

Busy quilts can be FUN!!! Glad you found some light BLUE scraps to sew for the RSC. I'm sure you have PLENTY more projects to keep you busy the rest of the month!

So, do your Bright Hopes blocks finish at 6" square, then? I'm looking at your block photo and trying to figure out how you make them because they're cute and I have tons of leftover strips from my pineapple log cabin quilt and from a few Kaffe Fassett jelly rolls that insisted on coming home with me...

The blocks are cute. You could change the direction of half of your blocks so the dark "Z" shape becomes an "S" shape. Then you could lay it out in a Grecian key pattern.

I can't wait to see how your Bright Hope blocks come together as you add more colors.

RSC is always good for using scraps in the monthly colours, lots of scope for making great scrap quilts.
I like this block Cynthia.
