I don't have a finished quilt to share this week but I did finish up my Rainbow Scrap Challenge garden quilt top.
Sorry about the glaring sunlight in the upper corner. There is only one spot in my fence that I can get a photo and I had to wait all day for the sun to pass. And I couldn't wait any longer to get this post written. (I am not gonna complain too much - it was a beautiful fall day!)
I had a lot of fun making the blocks for this quilt throughout the year. Once a RSC color was announced, I started thinking about what garden items worked for that color. It was fun finding or designing blocks. I tried to stay fairly true to the items that actually can be found in my garden.
When I went to put all the blocks together, I did have to modify some of the blocks a bit to make them work with the quilt. And there were a few previously made ones that went into the orphan block suitcase. They will need to be used in another quilt - they just didn't make the cut!
I made my birdhouse block with the little nuthatch bird during the winter, so it was fun to see that it was a bit prophetic.
For the first time, a Bewick's Wren nested in one of the birdhouses. It acts just like a nuthatch - and it took me a bit to figure out what kind of bird it was.
This little mama sure kept the bugs down in my gardens! I hope they come back next year.

Very cute!
It's adorable! Very creative as always!
love those bird houses! Your RSC quilt turned out great. I intend to work on mine next month to finish it up I needed to pick out two more colors to finish mine though and have fabric arriving any day now as I didn't have enough to choose from and had about run out of gray and blacks which I needed. Then I will get it finished
Your Garden Quilt is the berries! Lol! Such a neat quilt! Love the bird and bird house.
great idea for the RSC....better than a stack of generic blocks...
You did a lovely piece of work on this quilt, Cynthia--so cheerful and pretty hugs, Julierose
That is so much fun! I really enjoyed looking around at how you fit all the blocks together - the extra little scrappy pieces that fill in here and there are perfect! Great finish, Cyndy!
That is such a sweet quilt! Love the fabrics you used!
This is so cute! I would never guess it was all scraps. It absolutely looks like you planned it just that way! Congratulations on a finished top!
It really turned out nice. You had a good vision for this one. Congratulations.
Sooo pretty Cynthia! You did an awesome job creating and designing this one. I really love it.
A Berwick's Wren! I've never seen one before! She's just the frosting on the cake of your sweet garden quilt top :)
Fantastic, Cynthia. Really fantastic. It's an original that has lots of uniqueness to it. Love it! ;^)
Oh wow, your garden quilt is just the bee’s knees! LOL. Truly, it’s so colorful and fun... I hope it’s a keeper for you! Cant wait to see it all quilted and bound.
your quilt is awesome!! Thanks for sharing.
Your quilt is just beautiful. So colourful and lovely!
I love how this quilt turned out!!! So very pretty. We had a birdhouse hanging above our deck when living in Pennsylvania and a Carolina wren took it over. She would dive bomb us whenever we stepped onto the deck. It was funny as wrens are such small birds! I'm betting your wren returns next year.
I'd love to make a quilt like this for my dad who is an avid gardener and grew up on a farm. Is there a specific pattern for thi quilt of did you collect these types of blocks and just fit them together perfectly?
Your garden quilt is looking awesome. And a great challenge for you each month:)
Such a wonderful idea for a Rainbow Scrap Challenge project... very creative!
And it turned out beautifully!
I have some scrappy sprouts to get into a finished quilt and I love your idea of putting the flower at the top... would you call that a "rolling stones" block?
This is so different than your usual style, but nonetheless wonderful. It's like a giant jigsaw puzzle.

You have a really delightful and charming garden. I love the chicken and the birdhouse included.

Oh. My. Goodness! It’s gorgeous! Such a clever idea for RSC, too. I am so impressed and inspired!
That is such a fun quilt! Congrats on getting it to the finished flimsy stage.
That is a great quilt and how fun to photograph it in your garden!! Perfect!
Wow! That turned out so cute. I'm impressed with your creativity!
Fun finish. I especially love the strawberry block.
I love how this top came out!! I've been waiting for months to see all your beautiful garden blocks come together--really fun and bright and cheerful!
Congratulations on your finish! I've so enjoyed watching this quilt come together with all your different blocks - love the birdhouse in fabric and the ones in your garden outside.
