Oh Scrap! : Strings

It is a new month so that means a new color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.
The color for April is Blue.

The color for the month is actually bright blue but I treat all blues the same.  I do sort out turquoise but we sewed that color last month.  I decided to sew up some strings first and made these three 12.5" blocks.

And speaking of turquoise, I finished up some 8.5" string blocks I started last month.  Then I made four 6.5" darker blue ones.   This RSC quilt only needs pink and purple blocks to finish it up.  Maybe I will get lucky in May!

Do you separate your blue scraps into two shades?

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

Well done. I don't separate turquoise from blue as I don't have enough of it but I might make another scrap basket for dark blue. I have a lot of different blue fabric. Enjoy the new color. ;^)

Your strings are pretty and inspiring me to finish my string blocks for teal from last month.
All my blues, including everything from navy to turquoise, are in one bin so it is in a constant jumble!

I haven't pulled out my collection of string blocks all year. It might be about time! Sometimes that's just the kind of sewing you need! Have a great Sunday!

I sort my light blue and dark blues, same with greens, purples, yellow and orange!

Pretty blue string blocks! My blue fabrics are in the same box, blue scraps too. It's sometimes very difficult to me to decide if one will goes in the blue or the green box ;)

I sort my BLUE scraps even further than blue and turquoise. Any excuse to make another Quilted Scrap Basket!!! :o))

Love your string blocks! (I can feel a string quilt coming on. What's one more start at this point?)
I try to sort my blues, but I seem to have a lot of too-blue-to-be-aqua-but-too-aqua-to-be-blue fabrics that make it all a complete muddle. It's easier to just stuff them all into the blue bin and shut the lid.

I don't have a large selection of blues in my stash or scraps. Plenty of aquas but not so much true blues. I want to make a quilt for my son this year using mostly dark sky/space blues so I guess I may be stocking up later. Have fun with your strings.

Yes.
Your string blocks are always so fun to look at, and yet I have never made one myself. Guess it's on my list right after I finish making face masks. Almost done!

I haven't yet amassed enough scraps to subdivide the blues! I keep scraps in wide, shallow wire drawer bins so I can see what's in there easily, and they are loosely by color. None of my scraps are very big, though, because my entire stash is FQs and half yards. If a piece is big enough to fold, it's in the regular stash drawers. The bits in my scrap drawers are small enough that I often can't find a scrap large enough for my purpose, but I love them too much to throw them away!

So you're ahead of the game with the RSC colours, like your new blocks.

Like your new blocks - I don't seperate my blues.... maybe I should now..... hmmm

I don't separate my blues, although my scrap box and crumb box seem to have more dark blues than lights. So if I make any RSC blocks this month they will probably be a mixture of all blues.
