Happy May Day!
When I was a young girl I used to always love making paper baskets and filling them with flowers to leave on neighbors' doors.
I should think about starting that tradition up again one of these years!
But today I am sharing the first of two Hands2Help donation quilts.
I made it using one of my Scrap-A-Palooza quilt techniques - it is made from leftover 2.5" binding strips. I focused on oranges, red, and pinks paired with blues and purples.
I didn't have quite enough 2.5" strips so I pulled some fabrics from the scrap bins. Rather than cut the scraps up small, I made some larger four patches to mix in with the rest of the blocks.
I used one of the backing I purchased from Connecting Threads and played around with a swooping quilting pattern.
It is happy and colorful and hopefully will brighten someone's day!
I still want to make at least one more Hands2Help quilt so I need to dig through my sewing room to see what I can come up with.
Hopefully I get started on something this weekend!

I love the surprise of the larger 4 patches here and there! Your quilt is perfectly appropriate for May Day - bright and colorful!
This is so pretty! I'm using the same design for Modern Amish but I want to make this in other colors too, someday!
I always love a good colorful 16-patch like this one. It's such a great block for strips and mixing colors. Stay safe and healthy.
What a great idea. I have a stash of strips and leftovers from various places and I'd bet there's more than enough for a lap quilt. Love how it turned out.
I started making a 16 patch and love the idea of using some larger squares to make 4 patch blocks to add to them. Thanks for sharing. Your quilt if very colorful.
I love the bright colors!! It's beautiful. I'm sure it will make someone very happy! :-)
I am sure it will brighten someone's day to receive your creative quilt. Nice job!!
I have three baby quilts lined up to quilt for the Hands2Help. I am going to try and longarm two at a time. Yikes.
Oh goodness...I love the happy color scheme and I also like the idea of filling in with some four patches. Just looking at a pic of it brightened my day!
I didn't sign up for H2H this year for the first year in a long time. I donate to several fav places already throughout the year and will just continue with that.
I love the way you snuck in some 4 patches. It's nice to find a little surprise to contrast among the other blocks.
What a fun quilt!! I like your solution to using up all of those leftover binding strips. Bright and cheerful is definitely going to win over the heart of the recipient!
What a wonderful quilt!. It sure brought a smile to my face. I’m sure the recipient will LOVE it.
Ooooh I love the colour fix in this quilt Cynthia, glorious!
Great colors in this one! And I love that sinuous quilting :)
I just love your color combos! This is such a lively quilt and will make someone so cheered and comforted. Connecting Threads wide backings are still on sale for a few more days, good time to stock up! I'm taking advantage of the rainy weekend to play hard with your Spin quilt pattern in the quilty fun room.
A nice, happy quilt. Which initiative are you sending it to? I'm boxing one up today to send to Quilts of Compassion.
This is beautiful, Cynthia! Adding the four-patches was a stroke of genius; I think it really adds a lot to the quilt to mix up the scale a bit like that.
Oh it is so happy and colorful!!! I love that color palette!!
A variety of pretty scraps always turns into a great quilt. I'm sure whoever receives it will love it.
Looks like you've been having fun in the studio! Thanks for being part of Hands2Help 2020!
