Oh Scrap! : This and That

The weather here has been sunny and warm so not a lot of sewing happened this week.  I did make a bit of progress on a couple of scrap quilts however.

I made my three dark green RSC blocks for my rail fence variation quilt.
I don't really like how these blocks turned out...

But once they get placed with the other colors, they look just fine.  I think it is just my aversion to green that brings out my dislike.  I think this quilt just needs some yellow pink and purple.

I also made some progress on my 3" leader/ender 9 patches.  I think to date I have made about 100 blocks.  I have a LONGGGG way to go!

I realized I need to come up with another Rainbow Scrap Challenge block.  I am ready to just finish up my string quilt this month so I am down to just two designs.  I have an abundance of strings in my scraps so I am thinking about a log cabin design.  Maybe I will find time to play with a design later on this month.

I hope you share what you have been working on!

The rail fence blocks look great all together! I agree, sometimes blocks look better when mixed up with other colors. Your little 9 patches are fun, too! We finally got some planting time yesterday, so I have flowers! Have a wonderful Sunday, Cyndy!

Oh! What are you going to do with all your little nine patches? I have a bunch of them and after making a few quilts of them am looking for a new idea.

Have a great day!

Funny how individual blocks can seem totally uninspiring, but work so well with all their buddies. Just gotta keep cranking them out, I guess! Your little nine patches are so cute! Do you have a plan for them, or are they just accumulating slowing in the background?

Hi Cynthia, good luck with finding a block to make - that's one of my favourite parts of making a quilt. Take care.

The RSC blocks are playing so well together, it's gong to be exciting at the end of the year to see all the colours mingling!

I think it is your aversion to green - I saw them and went - Oh Cool! Love the gradient effect!!

Perspective is everything -- your idea of "not much sewing got done" is MY idea of "LOOK; I GOT SOME SEWING DONE!!" :-). Enjoy these beautiful sunny days while we have them! The sewing will still be there waiting for us when it gets too hot, too cold, or too rainy to be outdoors.

This month's dark/sage green has been troublesome for more than one of us!

....meant to add that it puts the challenge in to RSC!

Your rail fences are looking great. It's weird how the color of green changes over the years. I'm assuming your bluer green is really old and the yellow green is newer. I keep pulling various greens and they don't work with newer fabrics. Sigh. Must be a reason to go shopping! (online, that is. Our local quilt store went out of business. Rats.

Ohhhh, I LOVE it with the greens. I love all of the colors together in your rainbow scrap quilt.

Now, lets talk about those tiny 3" nine patches! If a person was to skip reading they would have no idea how small they are. Are you doing an Omigosh quilt?
