The Gift of Scraps

Recently, my friend Sheila Sinclair-Snyder texted me to see if I had an extra cone of thread for a color she needed.  During this time of Covid, it is nearly impossible to just pick up a single item and I was happy to help her out.

As a thank you gift, she left me with a bag of scraps.  Quilty friends are the best!

The scraps she gifted me are the nicely folded ones along the top.  I pulled some coordinating "solids" from my scrap bins to stretch them so I could make a nice sized lap quilt.
(Notice mine are not so nicely folded.)

I have since been turning these fabrics into 12" blocks.
These bright and happy fabric have been perfect to work on and keep my spirits up!

Thanks so much Sheila!

I would have never expected finding a spool of thread to be as exciting as Covid has made it. Friends who pay a favor in scraps are good friends to have

I love win-win stories. I think you got the best deal of the two. Enjoy! ;^)

The blocks are so colorful and lovely and bright! You both were winners with this exchange. Love being able to use scraps to make a quilt ...... what a nice friend you have. Can't wait to see the whole quilt. Nadine W. rnwillis@velotech.net

Great looking blocks! Will they all share the skinny black middle ring?

What a terrific way to show her appreciation and how sweet of you to provide the thread for her. That's one happy you-scratch-my-back-I'll-scratch-yours story!

My closest girlfriend and I have really enjoyed a return to a sort of barter economy. We've traded a hot glue gun for bike training wheels, a jar of buttons for a pie, and next she's coming over to pick up an embroidery hoop. Love these bright happy scraps!

Wow, you didn't let those gifted scraps turn stale, did you? I keep thinking I should use up my scraps right away instead of cutting them down and storing them for future projects. Just not sure how to make that happen.

For some reason, fabric seems better than thread! Although, you can't have one without the other, lol! Glad to see you had a little something to spark your spirits!

I have a friend here who I joke with about "friendship in fabric and thread," and it looks like you have friends like that, too! It's so great, isn't it?! Looks like you were inspired by those new scraps right away, and with pretty results, too.

Love these blocks, the blue just pops making the centres seem o be floating above the rest of the block.
