A Rainbow of Colors

Once pink was announced for the June Rainbow Scrap Challenge color, I decided to just finish up one of my 2019 RSC quilts that was continued on into this year.

This quilt just needed some pink and purple 6.5" string blocks.  Making the string blocks kept my hands busy while my mind was able to process the pain in America and to reflect on my actions (or inaction) that contributes to it.

In no time at all I had all the blocks sewn, the quilt top finished and some goals to be a better person.

The center is made from 10.5" blocks, the lightest section is 6.5" blocks and the outer border are 12.5" blocks cut in half to 6.25" x 12.5 rectangles.

I always enjoy playing with color so the lightest section shifts from dark purple...

...over to mostly white with the tiniest bit of lavender.

In this photo, you can see the darkest pinks are in the opposing corner.

This quilt top is very similar to a quilt I made back in early 2018.

On this one, I decided to go with more contrasting stop borders and I really like the way it frames each section more.

Not sure when I will be able to get this one quilted up.  I might just muscle it into the enormous queue of client quilts I have right now.  I don't think I am the only one doing some "therapy" quilting right now!

This quilt is absolutely FABulous!!! I went over to check the first one out and nope, I prefer this one. The dark navy with purple border does something magical in this quilt. Congratulations. It's SO on my to-do list. ;^)

Therapy quilting sounds just right. Love the darker shades in the corners. Even if it is similar to the other string quilt you made before, this one has its own flair.

You do the most amazing things with your string blocks! I love color gradations you did this time and also those inner borders. Beautiful!

Lovely combo of all the colors!! Please, do not be convinced that what's happening in the culture is because you haven't taken action someone else demands. If you spend each day trying to fight all the injustice of the world, you leave no time to share your gifts, talent, and positive influence right where you live. If you are impacting those you meet locally in positive ways, you are doing something. If you are treating everyone you meet with kindness and love, you are doing something. If you speak out about evil your personally see, you are doing something. But your lack of doing what someone else deems "action" caused no ones pain. You are not responsible for what others think or do, you are only responsible for yourself, and any children/family/friends you have influence over. Knowing what a giving person you are, I am sure your actions have brought joy to others.

What a lovely quilt top. You've really inspired me with all the different elements you've added to make a simple scrap-busting blocks into a really dynamic quilt. :-)

Okay, this quilt is coming out great! Am salivating over it. As I play with my scraps, will have to consider using shading when considering placement. Thanks for sharing...Liz in Houston
