Oh Scrap! : A Few More Purple

Now that I have started two new Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts, I was able to make some more purple blocks for August.

I finished up four purple Postage Stamp blocks.  Because I am using 2" squares, my blocks will finish at 9".  I was only able to find 4 shades of purple solids in my entire fabric stash...including scraps.  I certainly need to fix this!

I also finished up these 14 QSR (quarter square rectangle) blocks.  You start with a large rectangle and end up with two blocks - I will need to pick seven prints each month.  So I don't have two blocks exactly the same, I try and pair up different light fabrics to the same dark print.

I need to decide how I want to lay these out soon.  I was originally going to lay them out all going the same direction but the thought of big diamonds is really appealing to me.  If I decide to that, every other month I will need to make mirror image blocks.  Something to think about....

Happy Scrappy Sunday!

Lovely PURPLE blocks for the RSC, Cynthia! Those Postage Stamp blocks are tempting and I've never made QSR blocks before. Hmm...

I really like those postage stamp blocks! Still tring to resist them, lol! I have lots of solid fabrics in my bin, but I'm not sure any of them are purple, though. Have a great Sunday, Cyndy!

I love those deep plums and eggplants you're using for these blocks, Cynthia. Very moody.

Love your purple Postage Stamp blocks! I think QSR blocks are very effective, I've only used them a couple of ties before but they lend themselves to scrappy or planned I think.

I think a postage stamp quilt would be really fun. So many memories incorporated in it. I really like the idea of laying out your rectangles to form diamonds. You'll get a lot of movement!
