Oh Scrap! : Log Cabin Progress

I have been making slow progress on my log cabin quilt.  Not because I haven't been actively working on it every week - but because the process of cutting and sewing all the small pieces takes a lot of time!

I did finish these two green circles this week.  They are composed of 1" and 1.5" strips.  The four log cabin blocks go together to make an 11" circle component.

A lot of time is spent digging through my scrap bins for the smallest of scraps that will work.

These two green circles meant I could finish up one of the larger sections of my quilt top.  This piece measures about 35".

Here it is up with the other blocks I have completed.  Next I think I will add more purple and some small bits of red.  I am in no hurry to finish this one.  I actually enjoy digging through and petting all of my scraps.  I find it very therapeutic - messy but therapeutic!

In fact, I think I have to find some time this week to clean my sewing room.  There is not much table or ironing board space in there again.  And I might even get out the vacuum :)

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

I love that teeny tiny log cabin; the seams must be wider than the "logs"!

I enjoy watching your log cabins come together and makes me want to do it too. But all that cutting time is what holds me back!

Those blocks make the neatest shapes! I should try some - I definitely have lots of long, thin strips piling up. A little studio clean-up is on my list this week, too! Have a great Sunday, Cyndy!

Log cabins and string quilts are indeed messy! I have run out of room to leave piles of scraps. And they need to out and visible! I’m not sure about therapeutic.....but definitely fun!

I love your log cabin blocks, especially the fact that you have different sizes and arrangements of the blocks. Looking great!

What? The vacuum cleaner? Really? Best of cleaning! I should follow your lead.... nah, maybe next week! Love your log cabin circles!

I love the curvy log cabin blocks. The pink one on the lower right looks like a seahorse. String blocks and log cabins do tend to leave messy surfaces everywhere, but oh what fun.

I've been at sea too long: I read those shapes as SOS! This quilt doesn't need any maritime assistance. It's going to be great all on its own :)

Very beautiful. The log cabin block is such a classic blocks with so many variations to be made. You're doing a great job!
