On my Design Wall

I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of the projects I have going on right now.  So I am trying to finish a few quilt tops.

Remember these orphan blocks I received from a friend?

I have sewed, trimmed and added some gray sashing to the blocks.

I ended up with enough blocks to create 5 rows. At first I tried a random color placement but found I liked this grouped placement best.

When it came time to add the horizontal sashing, I wanted to add a bit more color.  I found a pink fabric for some corner stones but knew a square at each intersection would be too much.  So I thought I would stagger them like above.  I like it!  I will continue the sashing to the outer border.

This is certainly not your standard Halloween quilt.
But I still think it is a whole lot of fun!

Are you a fan of  wool?  Did you see all the lovely bundles and beautiful colors available at Connecting Threads?  Yum!

I love this quilt block. Do you have the name of the block, or tell me where I can find how to make it?

The way you staggered the pink cornerstones is brilliant! I too like the like colored blocks together. What an inspiring quilt top you are creating!

I'm curious about how that block is made! Was it strip pieced and then sliced diagonally and sewn back together? They're making a great quilt design!

You really made something good with those blocks. I also like what you did with the sashing. You are right. A corner stone at every block would have been too busy. At first glance, it looks like they were in every corner, so I had to go back and look. Thanks for mentioning it or I would have certainly missed that!

I think those of very interesting (in a good way!) blocks and the first thing I said to myself was, "I like how the cornerstones are every other intersection!" Good job!

Looks like I'm not the only one that wants to know how the blocks were made. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks.

Very nice to have direction and motivation! You are well on your way to finishing that top! It is so intriguing! And the grey is the perfect moderator for the pinks and Halloween colors!

I like the idea of staggering the cornerstones!

The staggered placement of the cornerstones works really well. Amazing the variety of options there are even for relatively simple quilt layouts.
