Hurray! I was able to get my Half Rectangular Triangle (HRT) Quilt onto my quilt frame and get it finished this week.
I started making these blocks clear back in August on 2020 as a Rainbow Scrap Challenge project. For each color, I made about 14 blocks that measure about 4 x 8". I used the Creative Grids Perfect Rectangle Ruler to make them. No trimming required!
(Rulers are available at Fat Quarter Shop or Pineapple Fabrics)
You can also use half of the Tri-Rec ruler but you will need to make smaller blocks.
(This ruler set is currently on sale at Connecting Threads)
I kept the quilting simple with some horizontal straight lines that were irregularly spaced. It gave the quilt a wonderful texture.
I used a brown print for the backing and bound it with a fun stripe. There are not a lot of florals in this one so I wanted to keep the masculine feel to the quilt.

Okay, you've convinced me - I need that ruler! :) You've made my favorite kind of quilt - scrappy and colorful!
Awesome use of scraps!
HRTs are something that I haven't used a lot of; I think having the Tri Recs ruler would make them a lot lower stress to piece.
Beautiful quilt! I do love that brown stripey binding.
Another lovely quilt for H2H, Cynthia! Just so you know, I purchases the HRT Ruler in March or April. ALL because of YOU!!! Hoping to play in the scraps with it soon. :o))
Great way to use those scrappy fabrics.
Awesome quilts for H2H! Always a joy to see what you are making!
The quilt looks fantastic. I love HSR as they add a "different" look to a simple block. xox
Your quilt is so pretty! And I love the straight lines of quilting!
What a beautiful quilt, Cynthia.
I don't have the rectangle ruler, but I do have a tri recs.... now my mind is working through possibilities
It turned out wonderful and reminds me that I have three of these to quilt for H2H
A finish! Absolutely beautiful quilt.
Love the triangle top and the straight line quilting adds lots of interest.
I love this one! The simple layout, done in the unexpected half rectangles, is so striking :)
I'll never tire of one-block quilts, and this one is a beauty!
Its fabulous!! I like the half rectangle - it gives such a different look !! Nice job!!
Ooh, that's really neat! Hmm...I have one of those rulers and this would be a perfect way to use it and a whole bunch of scraps. I like that you had a guy quilt in mind when you made this.
Wonderful scraps. Someone will enjoy looking at all the different fabrics.
