It's A Flimsy

Even though I don't have a complete finish, I thought I would share my recent flimsy to prove I have been sewing a bit.

TA DA!  I love the color purple and all of the berry shades in this quilt top make me so happy.

Most of the floral fabrics were a generous gift from a friend.  I had said how I loved these prints and she shared some leftovers with me once she finished her quilt.  I really didn't want to cut them up small, so I used my All That Jazz pattern.

I love it!

My daylilies are starting to bloom so I have been outdoors enjoying them.  These are probably one of my favorites right now.

The ones on the bottom of the photo are called Butter Popcorn.  They are so ridiculously big and yellow.  I think I have about 30 varieties all told - so I get to spend a lot of time each evening deadheading.

But I think I will be skipping my gardens for a few days.  It is supposed to get up to 110 degrees on Sunday.  Our all time highest temperature is 108 and that happened in August of 1981.

I don't like the heat...

If I do go outside, I will probably be hiding in my cooler shade garden.  If you meander down the path, there is a sitting spot just under a big douglas fir tree.

Somehow I think I will just hide in my sewingroom with the fan blowing :)

Happy Friday Everyone!

That is a really pretty design, and I love the berry colors, too! Your lilies are gorgeous. I heard your heat forecast on the news this morning - yikes! Hope you can stay cool.

That is a pretty flimsy with all its cool colors! Your flowers are so bright and cheerful. 110 - yikes! I'd stay in, too!

I grew up in L.A. and was used to the heat, but 110 is too much!! I got married in Los Angeles and it was 108 on our wedding day. Luckily my mother nixed my idea of an outdoor wedding. Sometimes moms are just so wise!! I love your quilt top. I'm into the colors yellow (mustard) and purple myself. It's looking great and will be lovely when all done.

Love the design and colors! And the flowers are so pretty and the pagoda and bird bath with the foliage is very calming!

That's a fun purple flimsy, great design too. Beautiful daylilies. I can't imagine 110F! The hottest it gets here is 97F and high humidity.

Same heat in Portland, and it's headed to Idaho with very similar temps for Boise. Crazy! Your gardens are just lovely! But I'd spend time at the sewing machine. Summer (usually July and August) are my most productive months.

I was just reading about your heat wave this morning. Anything over 90 just saps the energy out of me (no AC here). I've stopped adding day lilies because the deer eat the flower buds right before blooming, even if I spray deer repellent on them. We were supposed to have an 86% chance of rain today, but this morning it was down to 32% and even that doesn't seem to be materializing. Try to stay cool and hydrated.

This looks amazing, Cynthia, and a finished flimsy absolutely counts as a finish! I love how that bit of yellow sets off the rich purples in your fabric mix. Gorgeous!

Love the striking pattern of your flimsy and the colours.
Speaking of colour your favourite daylily of the moment is a stunner! Daylilies are one of my favourite flowering plants so a lovely photo from you of the clumps along the fence line, they look so healthy!

Beautiful top with all the wonderful purples! We've had warm temps too with thunderstorms every afternoon. Our ground is SOGGY! When it's hot, I like sitting in my chair under the deck. I have a couple huge hydrangeas that form a wall on one side keeps it cool. Otherwise I'm behind my sewing machine too!
