For a few months now, I have been sharing a number of scrappy basket blocks that I have been making. Today I am ready to start sharing the finished quilts. The blocks were for my fourth module of my Scrap Mixology Series. This one I am calling Bloom.
For the first quilt I made, I used a bunch of Kaffe Fassett scraps. I loved how the bright vibrant colors looked in the blocks. When the blocks are placed on point, they look like baskets full of blooms.
So that is how I laid them out for this first quilt design.
The instructions in the pattern create enough pieces to make two blocks. I played around with the pieces and made each block unique.
This block would make a great RSC block. Each month you could make a few baskets of each color. All of the vases could be the same fabric or maybe use some multi colored scraps.
As you can see in my quilt, I even made the background scrappy.
The Bloom pattern is available (along with all of my Scrap Mixology patterns) in both my Etsy and my Payhip shop. The pattern is 13 pages and a pdf download. It has the instructions for making the block and then shares numerous ways you can lay these blocks out. Let's just say these blocks really blossom into some amazing designs. I will be sharing some other quilts I made over the next month.
The pattern also has a few modifications you can make to the block to change the look - which will give each layout a new flair. The Scrap Mixology modules are all made to use your scraps to create unique quilts from simple blocks.
This is the first quilt of three quilts I have made so far using this block. I am already thinking of a new way I can play with color placement so I think I will be starting a new quilt shortly.
I have to get these ideas out of my head :)
I hope some of you are finding these Scrap Mixology modules as inspiring as I do!
