I was digging around in the panel bits and scraps gifted to Many Hands and Many Hearts and came across some fun things. I have been needing to make a teen appropriate quilt and this should fit the bill.
Here are the bits as they came.
The first step was to get everything all trimmed up so I know what I have to work with
.I then pulled some matching large chunks that needed using up.
I then started making some colorful strips. I know I want the quilt about 55" wide so I initially cut all the strips roughly 57".
I think this is close to what I want. Now I just need to sew up all the strips. I will be leaving a couple areas unsewn until I know how long the quilt is turning out. I might need to add in a few more strips to get the length I want. (I could do a bunch of quilt math but I also like to just let quilts kind of make themselves.)

That's a neat fabric, and a good idea for using it! I'm impressed that you can put it together without math. Even when I use a calculator I get stuff wrong lol. Thanks for Oh Scrap every week!
That looks like it will be perfect for a teenager! I love the sections with words on them, and you found some good fabric pieces to go with the colors in the panel, too. Have a great Sunday, Cyndy!
I usually give the wheel to the quilt. It's more fun this way than doing the math from the start and have it all planned out. Plans don't work well with me anyway. What you have so far is looking good. Enjoy! ;^)

So glad you are getting use out of those scraps! Your layout reminds me of a couple of quilts I made before. I added ruffling to some of the strips to make it more textural.

That is going to be a great quilt. And, I like how you just try fabrics to see how you want it. I'm bad with the math part but every once in a while I actually try to do quilt math. I'm looking forward to seeing next week's post with the finished top -- hopefully.
