I always enjoy opening all the packages that you guys send me.
I never know what I am going to find!
Last week, Karyn sent me a box filled with some pre-cut squares and some pre-cut flannel rectangles.
I was instantly inspired with the flannel pieces. There were two different sizes but they all seemed to be the approximately the same measurement on one size.
The first thing I sewed together was this simple little infant quilt.
The next little quilt top I made; I ran the blocks vertically. I am not sure if all the pieces were a consistent size - I just sewed them without checking. I knew I could square it up later. Karyn also sent some long scraps that I was able to use as the vertical sashing.
I think I only had about 3 flannel scraps leftover. I love when I can sew up bits into quilts as I receive them. If they go into storage, wo knows when they will be uncovered again! Now these soft soon to be quilts will get donated before the end of the year.
What scraps have you played with this week?

What cute, soft flannel quilts!!! Yes, using all of it, or most of it, up feels so good, too!
Those are so sweet! Looks like it was fun to just start sewing these up. I would have to stop and pet them every now and then!
I love your little flannel quilts. During my last retreat, I made two out of a gifted bag of pre-cut squares flannel. It was so much fun. I like the layout in the first picture. I did a similar one but the skinny pieces were sewn end to end and ran like a horizontal sashing. I'll keep your design in mind for the next one. Thanks for the inspiration. ;^)
The flannel quilt looks nice and cozy for a baby! Thanks for sewing all these compassion quilts!
Sweet tops and I agree it is more fun to sew with "fresh" scraps! Better yet, you have such few scraps left! I'm getting ready to start Bonnie Hunter's mystery. . .I was able to "find" all my fabrics in the stash!
You made very quick work of those flannel scraps. Very cute ( and cuddly) quilts.
Nice job with the flannel scraps. I agree with sewing them up quickly instead of storing them away! Thanks for the idea of sewing the squares to rectangles--now I know what to do with some scraps that just came home with me!
Scraps you say??? You will love the patriotic box on its way. Enough scraps to fill your day singing, “hurray for the red, white and blue”!!!!
Such sweet little quilts! Great use of scraps as they come in!
