Every year, we try to make large donations of children quilts to one of our recipients. They have a hard time keeping up with demand around the holidays so we try and help them out. Last year we sent them 100 quilts. This year I would love to see at least 150. So I thought we should start getting some completed now.
First up is this fun little quilt with a transportation theme. Construction equipment on the front and fire trucks (thanks Karen) and Cars on the back. Kristin sent in the blocks and one of my local elves sewed all the blocks together and added the borders. (Thanks Charlene.)
Kathy just sent in this fun little quilt. It looks like she used a bunch of bits from previous projects and leftovers from panels to make the cutie. She also sent in this backing. The giraffe print is adorable!
Here is a little quilt I made using some orphan blocks that were sent in. I was able to use a few novelties scraps I had kicking around.
This is another quilt top sent in by Kristin. I really like this design. It is just made from fabric squares set on-point. Print placement makes the design. I had fun quilting it - I loaded it sideways and then just quilted a swirl in every square. The quilting looks fantastic on this flannel backing.
To reach our goals for kid quilts this year, we are relying on some quilts/tops coming from volunteers. I haven't mentioned this yet, but we received out 501(c)(3) status. All donations get a receipt now with our EIN number. So, you should be able to take a tax deduction to the full extent allowed by law.
Four more kid quilts completed - about 140 left to go!

Congratulations on your 501(c)(3) status! That was a big hurdle to jump! The kids quilts are all terrific. I like the green one with the squares on point. I wouldn't have thought of orienting squares that way!
I love your enthusiasm and eagerness to get in front of this. I'm sure we can all help you reach your goal!!
Such cute little quilts! I love that green one - and all made from squares - what a great idea. I've asked you this before, but I'm going to ask it again - what is a good size for these kids quilts like you're showing here? I have one to finish up to send you, but I'm not sure what size to make it.
