Oh Scrap! : RWB Strings

I am still trying to make a few RWB string blocks every now and then to burn through some of the scraps we acquire.

I did finish up 7 more 10.5" blocks late this week.  I think I have enough now to make a quilt (thanks to some donors).

Did you know you can make 10.5" RWB string blocks anytime and send them to us?
I have chosen to make 10.5" string blocks to burn through all the RWB scraps we end up with making Many Hands and Many Hearts Veteran quilts.  This means I don't have to think about a pattern or do much cutting when the scraps pile up.

I still have a lot more scraps but I tucked them back away for some future scrap play.

*********************************************

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

Quilting is more fun than Housework

I love the lighter blue that you've used in these blocks! I hadn't thought to make string blocks to send you, but I definitely could. Do you sew yours on a fabric foundation? Have a great Sunday, Cyndy!

It always amazes me how such simple scrappy blocks can make such cool quilts. Happy stitching this week.

I'm about to do a strip project of blocks and they use fabric foundations. Do you use that or paper or what? Hi Archie

Those patriotic string blocks look great. Working with strings takes times; but, the results are stunning!

I'm going to make more RW& B blocks for you. Did I already send you some? I can't even remember.

One more question. What do you use for your foundation on those string blocks? I think I used newspaper last time and took it off before sending them. I often use old bed sheets but that makes the quilt extra heavy. Do you have a preference?
