Oh Scrap! : Flannel Scraps

Whew! Yesterday was a good day but it sure cut into my work time last week.  We had our first Sew Day Fundraiser.  Poor planning on my part because I scheduled it the same day as the Civil War game here in Eugene.  Not only was traffic bad, but lots of people stayed home to watch the game.

I did get a fantastic surprise...one of my readers traveled hours to stop by and bring us a huge stack of blocks and some fabric.  She couldn't stay and sew but it made my day that I got to meet her in person!

We are still working through some flannel squares we received over a year ago.  These all flannel quilts are so soft and cuddly.  Kristin sent in the fun pink backing.

Here is another pink flannel quilt from the same box of squares.  In fact, it has the same backing because I quilted them all at once.  It definitely saves some time.

I think this is the last of the pink squares.

We did have a few yellow and blue squares, so Penny put them together in this quilt.  I think there might be one more stack around here somewhere that will be made into a quilt top soon.

Nann donated the backing and local quilter Cindy put it all together.

We cut the squares for this flannel quilt out of a bunch of bigger scraps that are piling up.  They all have kind of a woodland theme.  This quilt top was sewn quite a while ago and I am just getting around to quilting it.

If you have scraps you want to sew up, our block drive this quarter will help you burn through them. We are making these color block stars - you can find instructions for making them here.

Enjoy your week!

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!

  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

I've wondered what life is like in Eugene on a big game day like that! I have 16 of those star blocks made and planning to make two more next month. Would you like me to sew them together into a top before sending them to you? I'm such a slow finisher! Hope you're having a relaxing Sunday after yesterday's busyness!
