Oh Scrap! : Sew Day Preparation

 Happy Sunday!

If you receive our newsletter, you know we have a lot of fundraising going on in April.  One of the events is a Sew Day - whose preparation has been keeping me busy!  One of the big benefits of these Sew Days is that they help us use up a lot of our scraps.  This spring, we will be making blocks for Veterans.

To ensure we have cut into strips all the RWB scraps we have acquired, I reorganized all the chunky scraps we have.  This took quite a bit of time!  But with any reorganizing endeavor, after it is done, you can look back and see that it was worth the mess.

All of the scraps were cut into 2.5" strips and then cut into 11" lengths.  I stack cut most of them because we will be squaring up the blocks, so accuracy isn't that important.

I have one tub stuffed to the brim and am starting on another.  I really don't have much more to cut right now.  Up until the day of the event, I will continue to cut any scraps that get created.

This definitely made a dent in our scrap stash!

Here is the information on the Sew Day.  If you are local, we would love to see you there.  All of the blocks made will be used for donation quilts.  And the funds made will go to getting those quilts completed.  It should be a fun day!

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
