Oh Scrap! : Sew Day

Oh My!  How time flies!  The last couple weeks have been a bit of a blur for me.  I can't believe in that whole time I didn't make one blog post.  Thanks to all who checked up on me.  And my apologies to those of you who kept checking for new posts but finding nothing.

We had our sew day event today (Saturday) and I just spent a couple hours putting everything away.  I am exhausted but I wanted to share about the day.

We had a team of folks that showed up to sew some blocks for us.  We supplied them with the cut material, and they chain pieced away.

Karen even drove over an hour to join us.  She donates a lot of blocks, tops and fabric to us.  We were talking and she has been donating blocks from the beginning.  I think that was in 2022!  It is always nice to meet the wonderful person behind the emails.

We purposely chose a block that didn't require pressing until the end.  Here is Karen (our Board Secretary) working one of the pressing stations.

Board Members also squared up all the blocks.  Thanks to Marcia and Bev for doing most of the trimming.  This is Marcia - Bev is hard to catch because she is always moving.  All of the blocks made were pressed and trimmed so they are ready to be made into quilt tops.

How many blocks got made?  We made enough for at least 12 quilts!  I have some design variations for a few of these quilts.  I think there are some RWB panels I might add and a few might get some white flip corners added so we get some secondary designs.  Right now, most will be put on the Veteran shelf and pulled as we need them.  I did set a few stacks next to my sewing machine. As I get time, I can sew them into tops so you can see them.

Now that everything is put away, I can head to bed.  I am truly exhausted.  Thanks for being patient when I get too busy to post here on occasion.  If you shipped us something and you haven't heard from me, sorry about that too.  I am sure we received your package - I just haven't had time to let you know.

I am hoping this is the week I can get caught up!

Wow, enough blocks for 12 quilts! Nice job! I hope you're getting some well-earned rest. It's always so satisfying to work with other quilters for a good cause.

Look at that pile of blocks! It looks like people got a lot done during your sew day. Hope you have a chance to put your feet up and relax today, Cyndy!

Did you get through all of the red white and blue strips that you had prepared?
