Checked off the list - Finally

I have had the task of finishing up some table runners for my sister for a really long time.  My intentions are always good but I easily get distracted.

I finally finished the last one on the list.
This started as a block for a Fat Quarter Shop quilt along.  I didn't want the block to go to waste so I finished it up this week by adding the checkerboards to the sides.

It has been gray and rainy so photos are a bit difficult.  The colors are actually butterscotch and a dark plum.  Not my choices but I think she will like it.

So a total of five runners are now boxed up and ready to be delivered.  I am slowly checking off items on my UFO list - that is really making me happy!

Sitewide Sale

Another thing that makes me happy is seeing that Connecting Threads is offering 20% off your entire order.  That includes sale items!  Time to buy more quilt backings!

Union Square Block QAL

I always enjoy participating in the Fat Quarter Shop's block quilt-alongs.  They do such a great job writing patterns for some really fun traditional/vintage blocks.

This time we are making the Union Square Block.

The first thing I had to decide on was what fabric to use for my block.  I knew I wanted to use my Kona Butterscotch solid but I was torn between a modern or traditional print.

I decided on the traditional and soon had my pieces cut.

I do like to trim my HSTs so I cut my pieces at 3" square and got out my trusty hera marker (To mark the diagonal line - I just stack up about 4 squares and crease them all at once) and my BlocLoc ruler.

And here is my lovely 12.5" Union Square Block.  You can find the complete quilt pattern here and there are links to the youtube video and other blocks here.
There are also kits available at the FQS if you want to go that route.

My plan is to make a few more and turn them into an autumn tablerunner.  And maybe, I can get it done before Fall gets here!

The Fat Quarter Shop has many wonderful free patterns available on their website.  You can find many of them here
