Geese Migration Replay

Here it is - My first finish for 2017!

(Okay, most of the work was completed in 2016 but for me, a quilt is not finished until the binding is sewn on.  So it counts for this new year!)


Here is Geese Migration II.

Now that I am teaching classes on this quilt rather frequently, I needed a second quilt for display/trunk show purposes.  The second one was as fun to make as the first!









This quilt was all pulled from the scrap bin with the exception of the background fabric.  For that I used Craftsy's Boudless Aura Blender in taupe.


This one came out a bit brighter than my last one.  It wasn't planned that way,  just the scraps I had.  That is the fascinating thing about this technique.












Here is a photo of my original quilt.  The background for this one was a yarn dyed linen.

Strata Quilt - January OMG/UFO

One of my main goals this year is to finish up some of my older UFOs.  I have purged all of the ones I know I don't want to finish and I am left with 20 in various stages of completion.



To help in meeting this goal, I decided to join American Patchwork in their UFO challenge.  Essentially, you come up with a list of 12 UFOs and each month, they randomly draw a number and that is the project you work on for the month.  You may not finish it, but hopefully you will make some progress on it.

Sounds like a great idea to me!




For January, the number 6 was drawn.  Looking at my list, this is my Neutrals Strata quilt.  This UFO is not too terribly old.  I think it is a great candidate to start the year off!

As you can see, I have quite a number of pieces already sewn.










I had some time today to get all the pieces up on one of my design walls.  I was pleased to see I am further along than I thought.  It is silly how some projects get tucked away and forgotten when you are so close to completing.


I just might be able to finish this one this month!






So I am going to make this my OMG goal for January and link up with Elm Street Quilts.

Oh Scrap! : Happy 2017!

Here we are, the first day of a brand new year!

I hope it is a great scrappy year for us all.



 And just how did I ring in the New Year?
Knee deep in purple scraps!

As soon as Angela announced the color for January, I pulled my purple bin and started sorting.  I am pleased this is this month's color - my bin is stuffed full!



Right away I started sewing all the strings into these scrappy  10" blocks.  Not sure how many I will make - I am just going to keep sewing until I run out of strips.

So far, it looks like it is going to be a great year!
