For my second quilt entry into the Fall Blogger's Quilt Festival, I was hoping to be able to share my finished Red, Black and White Tumbler quilt. But sadly, it is not ready to be revealed yet so you will have to just enjoy seeing the colorwash one I finished up a few months ago.
I started by cutting a bunch of my scraps into a 3.5" tumbler shape. I wanted to play with points of light in a colorwash scrap quilt. I had never sewn with tumblers before and I have to say, they are now a favorite of mine!
Here is the finished quilt. I worked mainly in green, blues and purples - grouping all the lights into one single area.
When viewed up close, you can see I used all sorts of scraps. It was a great exercise to see how different fabrics would change depending on where they were placed in the quilt.
I had a lot of fun with the quilting too.
I did change the color of thread depending on where I was quilting.
And some old stash fabric was used on the backing. I love quilts made from scraps!
This one is being entered in the Scrappy Quilt category. If this is your first visit, I love to share lots of ideas for using scraps on my Scrap-A-Palooza page. You will find all sorts of inspiration there!
I have also entered my Bamboo Shoots quilt in the Original Design category. I can't wait to find some time with a cup of tea and my tablet to just look at all the eye candy out there!
The event will run September 19th through September 31st. Check out AmysCreativeSide to view all the beautiful quilts linked up. There are lots of categories filled with inspiration!

This is beautiful. I love the colors. I may need to try tumblers.
Hi Cynthia! This is really fantastic quilt! My favourite colour mixing and the simple pattern is great to show the special colour layout! x Teje
This quilt is still a favorite of mine. I could look at it again and again. I think I may need to make a tumbler quilt.
Oh my fav! Love it!
This is a favorite of mine, too! Such amazing color! I got myself a tumbler template for cutting scraps and have been experimenting with sewing them together, but having trouble getting the top and bottom edges to match up. I know I must need to adjust how I line the two pieces up before stitching. Any suggestions?!
A wonderful quilt and a fantastic arrangement of the fabrics.
I love this quilt. It's amazingly beautiful. The colours are amazing.
That's a beautiful watercolor effect! And the tumbler shapes create a totally different look from squares or hexagons. It must give a fresh breezy feel to any room))
The beautiful effect you created with your color wash of tumblers is so wonderful Cyndy! Good luck in the Quilt festival!
