I am one of the first to say, Why use one fabric when I can use ten!
I love seeing lots of variety in my quilts.
But I seem to have slid down a very slippery slope! When I pulled some thread to start quilting my courthouse steps quilt, I decided 8 thread colors were better than using just one.
I also decided on a quilting design that requires a LOT of starts and stops. About halfway through the first pass across the quilt I was already second-guessing myself! :)
But I am committed now so I will have to see this through!
Even though it is a slow process, I am loving the beautiful colors in this quilt. I made this quilt using the Boundless solids and couldn't be happier with their quality!

That does look like an ambitious plan, but it will be stunning when you finish. I purchased a kit of Boundless solids on your recommendation but haven't cut them yet. They are too pretty in the package!
You are a true scrap quilter when you love variety in your fabrics AND in your threads too!!

I'd rather hand quilt if I'm quilting with a lot of colors than bury the knots involved with a whole lot of thread changes and starts and stops when I quilt on my DSM.

Your collection of thread on top of the beautiful color in your quilt makes such a great picture! I never want to change thread in the middle of my quilting either, but that will be so pretty with all the different thread colors. Have fun with your vision of it!
I have recently had the same (thread) dilemma and decided to pick the one thread that would "be there" in a pleasant way without dominating the quilt. On some of the fabric colors it makes more of a statement and on others it blended.......I really like both!!! It was a client quilt and the $$ weren't there to do your choice. BTW, the client loved the results!
The quilting is looking wonderful. It's going to finish off this quilt wonderfully.
Starts and stops are a pain but I think you are going to LOVE the result. Your color combinations are lovely!
