Oh Scrap! : Beautiful Scraps

First, I want to share some of my green Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks.

I refer to these as my ladder blocks.  They are just something I made up to use scraps I already had cut into 2.5" squares and strips.  It sure makes assembly fast when there is almost no cutting

All of my design walls are full so I laid out a few of the finished blocks onto my kitchen floor just to see how it is looking.  It definitely needs some bright oranges, yellows and reds.  Those should come in future months.  Right now, I think I have a total of 4 eight inch blocks finished.

My plan is for this one to be donated to a kid's charity.  I always try to make a couple a year for the bigger kids - and colorful scrappy quilts seem to work for either sex.

Also this week, I am looking forward to seeing some Geese Migration blocks being linked up.  If you haven't seen Maureen's over at Mystic Quilter, you should go check them out.  The rosy pink one above is just one of the beauties she shared!

If you want to see my quilts, I shared them last Sunday on this post.

Quilting is more fun than Housework

And finally, remember that next weekend is the Quilty Orphan Adoption event.
Check your sewingroom for any projects you are ready to cross off your list and hand off to someone else.  I will have the linkup open for Thursday the 15th through the 17th.

If you want to read more about this event, you can check out last Fall's event.
This is also a great time to adopt a project and finish it up for the Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  The timing is perfect!

*********************************************************

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

I really like the design your ladder blocks make the way you have them laid out there. They are going to turn into a wonderful donation quilt!

Love those ladder block-the black and white really showcase colours. And the pinks by MQ are so pretty.

OOOH -- love your ladder blocks. Are those 2.5" side pieces? And, blacks? They look fabulous. I like your idea of grabbing already cut pieces to make these blocks. It would do me a lot of good if I could wipe out all of my 2.5" squares! Hum, Orphan Adoption... sounds like a plan. Must check my UFO list to see if there are any items I could move along.

I really like your ladder blocks! That's my favorite kind of block - where it looks really simple, but then when you put together a whole bunch of them they go all wowie-zowie!

I like your colorwash quilt. I know how hard it is when you actually attempt one. It looks so simple on other quilter's blogs, but it is more complicated than it looks. I am sure your quilt will be stunning when it's all completed. We artists are such a picky sort, aren't we!?
