The Tumbler Shape

One of my favorite dies for my AccuQuilt fabric cutter is the Tumbler shape.

You may remember this quilt I made with the shape back in 2017.  It was fun to play with values in black and white fabrics.

And this colorwash scrappy quilt I made back in 2016.  It is one of my all-time favorite quilts.

Well, I have been wanting to play with the shape again.  While waiting for inspiration to strike for a big project, I thought I would make something small.

I used my 3.5" tumbler die and some scraps to make this fun table runner.  This shape is so easy to sew together.

And with the die, all the alignment notches are right in the die so sewing is always accurate!

I put a fun crosshatch fabric on the back.  This is one of the colors of Sketched Lines from Connecting Threads.  It is one of my favorite backing fabrics right now!

I have both the 3.5" and the 6.5" Tumbler dies.  I need to decide on some scraps and start sewing!

Have a wonderful weekend!

What a great table runner!! Small makes can really help me get excited to work on something else or clear creativity blocks. I'm thinking you are going to inspire a lot of summer making with this post. :)

Your tumbler colorwash quilt is one of my all-time favorites, but somewhere along the line I missed the black, white, and red one. It's beautiful, too - so striking! The tumbler shape made a great flag tablerunner - what a good idea!

That’s a great use for those tumblers in making the waves. I loved your color wash quilt, but I don’t remember that it had tumblers, even better.

Great little table topper, all ready for summer holidays! I love how such a simple shape makes simple rows and columns so interesting. And it's just as easy to sew as squares. I've got a bunch of scraps cut into 5" tumblers and want to get stitching them up this month :)

All your tumbler quilts are fabulous ! You have certainly gotten your use from that die. I was tempted, but I tell myself I can cut the shape from all my wedge rulers and dresden template,. but that has yet to get done. I love what you'd done with these quilts.

I love that die too, and am currently using it one one of my RSC projects (with selvages and regular fabric scraps. I am going to have to work more with it, because I really love all your tumbler makes. Thanks for the inspiration!
