Oh Scrap! : Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2021

Welcome to the first link-up of Oh Scrap! of 2021. I think this will be its seventh year.  That is a whole lot of scrappy inspiration!

It is pretty early in the month, but I am already getting a few of my Rainbow Scrap pink blocks completed.  I scrounged up three shades of pink solids and made these three blocks of my postage stamp quilt.  My PSP2020 will become my PSP2021.

I started this quilt mid year so I only have 14 blocks done to date.  I am usually limited by the shades of solids I have in my scrap bin.  I know it will eventually get to my planned 42 blocks.

One of my other RSC blocks that will be carrying over is my scrappy lego quilt.  So far I only have red and pink blocks completed.  They are made with 2" strips and get trimmed to 12.5" square.

I have some of my other blocks all cut and sitting next to my machine to be sewn.  I thought I only had 4 RSC projects planned for the year but it looks like I am up to six.  Crazy how that happens!

Are you ready for lots of scrap quilting in 2021?!

*********************************************

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

I have 4 RSC projects but since there are 5 Saturdays in January, #5 might be the 5th Saturday of the month project. Happy stitching!

Haha! I seem to have the same problem. Every time I count how many projects I have the number always ends up bigger, haha. I don't know how they do it. You got a great start in the pink bin. Wishing you all the best for the new year. Health and fabric first and foremost. ;^)

Your postage stamp blocks look so fun all together on the design wall, and the Lego blocks are great, too! There are always so many intriguing ideas for using scraps - hard to stop at just one (or two, or three...)! 🤗

It is funny how new projects seem to multiply, especially this time of year. Love the solids though with your postage stamps. Always something new to enjoy.

Lovely PINK blocks for the RSC, Cynthia! I'll be looking forward to the rest of your RSC lineup. Shall I venture a guess? Nah! I'll just wait for them to be revealed throughout the month (or next week.)

Your postage stamp block is intriguing! I have multiple cookie tins full of cut postage stamps. I'll have to keep this idea on my radar for using them. Thanks!!

Haven't decided on my RSC projects yet, but I did pull out the pink "chunks" box and the crumb blocks. May also do some strings, just need to decide on the best size to be most usable. Oh, and I pieced a backing for a mostly pink top that is my UFO challenge for this month, so maybe I should count that too. Gotta look on the bright side.

You are so fast with those pink blocks! I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do, ie quilt design. Trying to think of something different than last years pinwheels.
