Oh Scrap! : Yellow

A new month means we have a new Rainbow Scrap Challenge color.  And for February the color yellow was chosen.

I am working on numerous RSC quilts this year so I thought I would start the month out by making my Scrap Mixology blocks.

My yellow scrap bin is not that full right now.  It hasn't been that long since we had this color so not that many scraps have multiplied.  I made my newest interpretation of my Two Bits pattern.

I added them to the pink blocks I made last month.  The colors are much brighter in the actual blocks.  The lighting in my sewingroom is horrible for photos - especially late at night!

My other Scrap Mixology block is Well Suited.  But I already made some yellow blocks when I made my test blocks months ago.  So there is no need to sew any of these up.

Which also means there won't be any more pinwheel blocks added to the pile.  These blocks are made from the bonus triangles left over when making the geese for my Well Suited blocks.

I still have five more RSC block designs to make for the month so there are still lots of blocks to share in the future.  I have been slowly working on getting them all cut so I can have everything ready to sew when I have more time to sit at my machine.

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

I like the stair look when your blocks are together.
I don't have either much yellow, but I can play with what I have and this is where the fun starts. Happy scrap week Cynthia!

That just sounds strange to hear your yellow bin isn't that full!! All of these blocks are so cheery even if your lighting is not great!

My favorite block is a churn dash, so love this framed one you are making. Also a great way to use up scrappy strings!

Ooh, I love that Two Bits churn block thing you're doing! What a fun, fresh reinterpretation of a classic quilt block!

My sewing room has the worse lighting in the house and being a wooden house too doesn't help.
But nonetheless, your blocks are all beauties, Cynthia. I esp. like that churn block. Your yellows you are choosing are fresh looking reminding me of spring.

All of your projects are so lovely! I can’t decide which I like best. But I’m feeling inspired by these classic pattern you are using. Pinning.

Your yellow blocks look terrific! I found a few yellow strings in the string bag. Yellow is also a color I have little of in my stash. It is fun to see how other people are using it!

Lots of fun blocks showing up here. I love churn dash blocks so I particularly like them. Let me know if you would like some more yellow scraps. I'll be very happy to mail you some. (Seriously, I would.) I seem to have way too many of all my scraps. Happy sewing this week.

I guess I need to put away the pinks and pull out the yellows before I get behind for this month! You always amaze me with what you create for RSC.
