Oh Scrap! : Focused on Scraps

Even though I have been trying to spend a lot of time outdoors, this week I have been also focused on sewing up some scraps.

I found a few more solid colors to make some more postage stamp blocks.  These are becoming a bit tedious to sew - and to cut all the pieces.  For the prints, I am really trying to focus on finding some of the most unloved scraps I have.  So these blocks are really taking a lot of time to complete.

I organized them all up on the design wall.  I still need four more blocks.  I found a medium pink and a very light yellow that will fit in nicely.  I think I will try and find one more medium green and dig again for a purple.  If I can't find something in my stash, I can always shift the blocks around a bit and make some more darker blocks.  I am getting so close!

I have started cutting all the bits for my RSC blocks and used these Well Suited blocks as a leader/ender project as I made the postage stamp blocks.  I used the bonus triangles from the flying geese to make the pinwheels.

I added the blue blocks to the other completed RSC blocks.  I forgot I was making four of these blocks each month so I need to make one more.  No problem there - I still have lots of blue scraps!

Speaking of blue, here is another Scrap Mixology quilt I made using this same Well Suited block pattern.  I just made the woven layout shared in the pattern.

I could make a second blue quilt and still not use all the blue scraps I have.

The weather has been perfect here for a lot of outside work! Between that and writing a pattern I haven't done any sewing at all! BTW, I love the Well Suited blocks!

Your scrap projects are progressing nicely! I like where you are going with your postage stamp blocks. Solid fabrics are a fabric not in my stash; but, I'm loving what you are doing with your leftovers!

The rainbow of flying geese is going to be beautiful! I love the layout you're playing with for the postage stamp blocks, too. Have a great Sunday, Cyndy!

Love your flying geese quilts. I clocked through the links and I’m not sure what that block or pattern is called. Can you clarify for me please?

Love the flying geese blocks. I gave away all my scraps. But then when I organized my sewing room, I found more scraps. LOL Need to organize them and make a plan.

Almost at the finish line now with the Postage Stamp blocks, and I know just what you mean regarding all the cutting of those small pieces!

These are looking good. I don't know what it is about blue but I have a whole bunch of it. I try to keep them cut up into pre-cuts when possible and that is when I realize how much I actually have!

That Scrap Mixology pattern looks great in both of your colorways. I never get tired of blue and white quilts, though -- that might be my favorite quilt color combo!

Your postage stamp quilt is looking amazing, Cynthia. How fun it looks to arrange and rearrange the blocks. Love the Flying Geese blocks too. Lots of fun fabrics. Love the stripes in that one block in particular. Have a great week and thank you so much for hosting the link party.

I'd be happy to send you some nice lavender solid fabric ... I only have a small amount but if you need it.... I know I'm terrible trying to pawn if off on you! I do like those postage stamps but I doubt if I would ever do them. I am thinking of a waffle block like Nann showed today. It would use both squares and strips... but I'll hold off for a while I really don't need to start anything now. But, oh your framed flying geese are calling to me. Darn, not enough time in the day for all these goodies. Have a great week.

You have so many Postage Stamp blocks you are just itching to get to the finish line. As long as you can leader/ender them with the RSC work, you'll cross it before you know it! Oh my, I've never seen that "Well Suited" block -- got to make a note of that one.
