Saturday, I sewed with some good friends. It is always nice to spend a day with other quilters.
While I was there, one of my generous friends gave me a giant stack of orphan blocks. She does a lot of donation quilts for kids so I find these blocks loads of fun. I plan on making a few quilts that I will gift back to her so she can donate them to the organization of her choice.
As soon as I got home, I instantly organized them a bit and started putting some up on the design wall. Not sure that this is the final design but it will be perfect as a starting point.
I initially pulled a blue pin dot fabric to use as the background (on the left) but I think I need to go back to my stash and find a print with a bit of a cream background. The white looks too stark for me.
I am sure I will be playing with all these blocks for weeks!

What a nice batch of orphan blocks! Good job rescuing them, they will make a cute quilt for a kid who needs one.
Wonderful to get together with stitching friends! Those are neat blocks and will be fun to put together. I love rescuing stitchy stuff.
It is so sweet of you to give them back to her so she can give them to whomever. You both are very generous. I love what you've gathered. Beautiful beginning. Enjoy! ;^)
How fun!!! I am sure you will come up with great quilts for the kids.
I love how you see possibility in others' orphan blocks! I agree: I think a cream background may be the way to go. : )
