Oh Scrap! : January RSC

It felt so nice to find some time this week to cut up some scraps.

I worked on my first Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks for 2023.

The color for January is blue.

I am only making two different blocks this year.  The first are these 36 patch blocks made from 2.5" squares.  I am really trying to keep things simple this year.

The second block are these hearts, also made from 2.5" squares.

My plan is to make 3-5 blocks of each color and then make two or three donation quilts with them.  I made the blocks the same size so that I could somehow use them in the same quilt if I want to.

Guess I need to keep cutting blue squares!

Have you picked out your RSC blocks for this year?

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

I wonder if you will stick to just two blocks throughout the year. They are nice together. Enjoy the blues. ;^)

I really like both of your blocks, Cyndy! So pretty in those blues. Do you think you'll combine them in a quilt? Have a great Sunday!

Great choice for RSC blocks! I'm going to try to keep it simple this year too. But I always say that LOL.

Both are great blocks for using up those smaller odds and ends. I'm going to work on an older RSC project that still needs blocks made. We'll see how that goes.

It’s a great idea to maybe sneak a few heart blocks in with the plain ones in a quilt.

You have the best ideas! I like both of your blocks and what a great way to use 2.5 inch scraps! I did have a RSC block in mind; but, I don't know if I'll be able to work it into the mix this year.

Pretty blue blocks. I haven't started anything new (I may do some blue blocks later), I've decided to make progress on my blue UFOs.

Great idea to keep the two different blocks the same size. They'll look great together. Good luck in your plan. Blessings! Melva <><

Great plan for the RSC. I've been working diligently to use up some 2" and 2.5" squares. Of course the minute the pile goes down more seem to take their place!

I do like your plan for the RSC blocks. They are both great and would play nicely together if you want them to! 😉
