Oh Scrap! : More Squares

This week most of my time was spent longarm quilting and sorting fabrics to make kits for volunteers.  I did find a bit of time to cut more 44.5" squares from my scraps.

This box is about 12" deep so there are a LOT of squares in their already.  I have had a few people ask me exactly how many quilts I am planning on making. (It will be a lot!)

I did sew up a couple more sample blocks for this project.  The first quilt will be monochromatic and have a black center square.  There are some non-quilters that want to learn to sew blocks so I think this will be a good place to start.
Hopefully these will make some fun, colorful scrappy quilts for teens and adults.

What scrappy projects have you been working on?

*********************************************

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

Quilting is more fun than Housework

I like those 9 patches with the dark centers! I think your volunteers are going to enjoy sewing those up, and what a great way to learn, too. Have a great Sunday, Cyndy!

Love those 9 patches with the black center. Normally, I never use black, this would make me change my mind. What size are the squares? 5" or 2.5"?

What a great block for a beginner to stitch. Love the dark centers!

I love your blocks. The simplicity is going to be a fabulous finish for sure!! Sometimes I just love a good old scrappy basic quilt where the color shines through.

Hi Cynthia, I think that those blocks will be perfect to learn to sew blocks on. Have a great week!

That is a lot of squares! You'll have some great scrappy quilts once it's empty.
